So today I finally discovered Lady Gaga. Or rather, finally made the connection between the artist name and all of those singles I keep everywhere lately. And I have to say, even though I don't think too much about the body of her work, her songs are freaking catchy. Like worse than Ryan trying to shove Disturbia into my head-catchy. And she's bizarre in a fascinating kind of way.
I think she's the first mainsteam artist I've actually liked in a long while. Like when I get past the immediate catchiness of her songs and whatnot, and actually look at her... I still like her. Her music's not exactly my favorite or anything, but I like her as an artist. And I like her style. And I like reading about her. Shrug.
I'm actually kinda surprised that Pitchfork rated her second album decently, or that they even rated it at all, considering Pitchfork isn't exactly a mainstream music site... but I guess that's how things are nowadays. After seeing a review of Joanna Newsom in People magazine, I don't know where the line is anymore.
The thing that gets me about mainstream songs is that there always a part or some aspect of the song that I don't particularly like. Lady Gaga's songs are no exception to this, but somehow the parts I do like really make up for it. To the point where I don't get sick of them as fast in comparison.

I went through another lost item scare yesterday when I attempted to pick up a bluetooth wireless earpiece from the cup holder in my car, accidentally pulling the earpiece part off of the bluetooth device part (long story. >_>) and inadvertently dropping the bluetooth device without seeing where it fell. I then proceeded to spend a half hour frantically searching under both front seats, between both seats, behind both seats, and in front of both seats, without and then with a flashlight, getting my arm stuck under the driver's seat for about 30 seconds in one search. And to top it off, my body was freaking sore from running at the beach the day before, and I was dizzy with a headache from having just come back from the Six Flags trip.
I finally found the device inside the console, which I thought had been closed when I dropped the device. Seriously, though. I HATE LOSING THINGS. Especially right in front of my face.
