Dream Post #51

I went through this phase for a while of not recalling having any dreams, and now after shifting my bedtime a little earlier somewhat unintentionally, I've been having a lot more dreams... and also waking up multiple times in the middle of the night because these dreams tend to wake me up randomly. Sigh.

(I realize the numbering got off-track in previous posts, and this technically is post #52 under the dreams tag, but whatever.)

1. I'm gchatting with Yvonne who's supposed to be in the Dominican Republic right now, and she's asking me lots of deep questions that I'm having trouble answering. Then she suddenly signs off after growing impatient with me typing up a response to her creative writing prompt [ugh why is it always in-class essays] because she has to board a plane in Boston.

2. I'm in a classroom explaining the merits of Ryan L's personality to a bunch of primary schoolers. (Ryan, stop abusing your hive mind privileges.)

3. I'm playing an RPG that ends somewhat haphazardly (trick the enemy into holding the bomb!) and discover at the end of it that the entire plot was masterminded by one of my party members, but this fact was never revealed in the end. Kuai points out to me from one of his film critic's video analyses that you would've only noticed this if you'd paid attention to that guy's change in attire during the last hour of the game. And then I wake up wishing this game were real because I want to see more random subtleties in entertainment like that- the kind with answers that are never spelled out for you outright but not too obscure either.

4. At some point, I'm watching a video on facebook of Jason [roommate Jason, not brother Jason] performing a forehand shot from tennis in slow motion, except for some reason he's purposely mis-hitting the ball so it looks weird. Typical Jason.

5. I'm chasing after Peter and his nephew (who apparently runs ridiculously fast for a baby) up a flight of stairs on a dark and stormy night, with my dad and brother tailing after me. We realize that we bypassed the hotel/apartment room we were staying at several flights ago, so we turn the other way and I suddenly remember that Dad can't see at night but luckily there are handlebars on the stairs... until there suddenly aren't and he falls off the gangway and I wake up.

6. All I remember is being trapped in a car and Rosemary's outside making fun of me for doing something that very easily could happen in real life [but I don't remember what now].

If I have more dreams in the next week I'll just add them into this post.

7. A parasitic alien species reminiscent of the Yeerks from Animorphs has burrowed deep into the earth beneath a desert and begun assimilating people I know a la The Thing. Most of what I can recall involved chasing teenage martial artists through desert pits as they were pilgrimaging towards the source similar to those teenagers who travel to Syria to join ISIS. By the time I woke up, Wes and Johny had already been taken and the world was doomed.

8. I'm walking through a 3rd floor school hallway only to run into a huge number of SWAT team members running in the direction I came from. I take this as a signal that a shootout is about to happen behind me and I run downstairs as fast as possible... only to be stopped at a security checkpoint where I have to prove that I actually read books using the three book purchases I apparently just made and my Kindle.

Dream Post #49

1. I am witness to a 4-way battle on a platform? atop the mouth of a volcano between Kuzan (One Piece), Kakashi (Naruto), generic-giant-sword-man (???... but he apparently managed to break through Kuzan's ice body and give him severe burns. and reminds me of Jozu), and a hooded and caped Kyrie (...Hilgardia lol), who's wielding and swinging hooked-ropes in midair like Lin Beifong (Legend of Korra) and Spiderman (Spiderman) while countering Kakashi's ninja moves.

That was the most epic dream I've had in a long time, and I'm actually sad to have woken up in the middle of it. Go Kyrie.

2. Something something ->
learning a new lindy routine named after an animal (pig?) ->
outside a science museum in SF with Olivia, Andrew, James, and some girls I don't recognize ->
pogo sticks? ->
and next thing I know I'm apartment-mates with a friend of a friend I met recently.

This was probably an example of dreams being my brain trying to sort out past memories from a given time period. It's usually the day after though, not a while after...

Dream Post #48

Last night I dreamed that I went rock climbing with Jade and Olivia, only to find myself stranded in SF and pickpocketed and losing all my credit cards, and in my panic unable to write down any phone numbers I looked up on my phone because I was so nervous and kept having to erase what I wrote.

The night before that, dreamed that my family and I were about ready to go to hell (which is in Greece if you didn't know), until at the last minute when I said "oh wait, I still have to live right now" and was allowed to pass by and go to the restroom where we somehow lost Mom and got trapped at that port in Greece forever.

I hate my dreams nowadays.

everything late

B: I wish everyone in the world were just like me. Life would be so much easier.
Me: I dunno about that. If I were to meet myself I'd hate me.
B: That says more about how you see yourself, doesn't it?

- Sometimes I'm too afraid to speak up out of fear of being criticized (I take criticism pretty heavily) or judged... but I've been feeling more lately the need to be bolder about what I think or feel. Some problems just continue to persist the longer you don't speak up about it until they start to drive you nuts.

Also, sometimes I wish people were more direct or honest with me, but I'm also afraid of what they might say for the same reasons. But maybe I ought to speak up for myself for once. I really appreciate it when others do for themselves.

- That said, there are some things I still would feel more conflicted about mentioning. Things like being forgotten when people organize stuff, which has happened for me in multiple circumstances. If it happens often enough it almost feels like you're purposefully being left out of events, or else you're just not that memorable- need I mention the fact that Nathan didn't remember me being at more than half of the events that both of us were at over the course of college, and we lived together.

I had the advantage then of being more involved when plans were being made or organized because I lived in such close proximity to everyone. Right now I feel like I'm more in the periphery of communities or social circles rather than in the middle of any one. I still experience self-doubt about whether or not it'd be worth trying harder, whether or not I'd really fit in anyway when I'm so prone to being quiet by default in the presence of all these folks to begin with. I don't even realize it sometimes.

The thing is, if you bring something like this up... well in past experiences, it started to annoy people to the point where it made the person more likely to not be invited. Or maybe it just depends on the attitude used when doing so. But the whole "I don't want to be a burden" and "maybe I'm not that likable" mentality just gets tiresome after a while, when all you just want to do is make all these unhealthy voices stop. Is it better to work to prevent the situations that cause these voices to occur from happening, or find ways to reduce their effects when they do [seemingly inevitably] happen?

- Last night I dreamt that my family's neighbors in socal put us under house arrest for not being neighborly enough to the general community... plus two other dreams I don't remember anymore. I don't usually have psychological dreams, but this dream actually follows from how I felt about approaching community growing up. I don't know if it's just the way social gatherings have been since I left home, but I've always sort of lamented how private my family's home life was growing up, not bothering to share more than small talk with our neighbors whenever we actually did see them, and me always being warned to never tell other people this and that because I have a bit of a blabbermouth problem sometimes. [and I still do, so maybe it's better for people not to tell me anything. but if you warn me to secrecy beforehand I'll get the point.]

But I mean, even from the church perspective, small groups were sort of a foreign concept to me until I came to college. It meant that people actually recognized you for once as more than just a face at church... after a while, anyway. But in any circumstance, it makes more of a difference once you step outside of your bubble and actually try to know the people around you beyond the superficial level. It means the risk of being more vulnerable to more people at once as well, but I believe the additional perspective on life you get is worth it. "One wanted fifty pairs of eyes to see with..."

But seriously, it makes all the difference.

Ironically, the sermon today was about community and I couldn't focus because I felt like I've mulled over this subject way too much in my life for it to just come up again. That and my mind's been preoccupied with other stuff anyway... but that's for another day.

Dream Post #48

1. Don Draper from Mad Men goes to a barber I've been thinking about checking out sometime and gets a haircut. He disapproves.

2. I'm trying to rearrange furniture on the ceiling of a living or bedroom using a crane that hasn't been calibrated properly and keeps missing the furniture I'm trying to reach. Dad meanwhile chastises me for how bad of a job I'm doing.

I haven't been remembering the dreams I've been having very well as of late... although I tend to remember nap dreams better and I haven't been taking naps much lately, I guess.

Dream Post #47

For some reason I'm sneaking into either my own house or a house that looks like my house, and I'm confronted by a man who threatens to kill my mom. So I attack him, knock him to the floor and kick him a few times, and then set the house on fire.

(I wake up thinking I've just murdered a guy... oh wait it's a dream. but I still feel guilty. Sleeping again.)

I'm searching with my dad for something to protect myself from the authorities, and end up looking for a warehouse in a distant land (...San Francisco). I recall Olivia telling someone else that she lives by the warehouse next to the blue dinosaur behind the giant blue bounce house. I pass by the bounce house and park by the dinosaur, and for some reason the air feels really tense because there's no one around.

Dad suddenly triggers an alarm across the street and we're swarmed by Native American police wearing uniforms that look like they were designed by the Village People, who were hiding in the house next to the warehouse next to the blue dinosaur. Jade comes running out with them decked out in the same uniform and a gun, and we shake hands secretly.

(and then I wake up again. uh.)

Dream Post #46

Dreamt last night that I was in some kind of trial in which the judge, my mom, forced me into cryogenic sleep for six months against my will. Worst nightmare ever.

Dream Post #45

1.
- I'm studying for a physics exam being run by a teacher who I know is out to get me.
- Too much time passes and I realize that I'm 5 minutes late and haven't left the house, so I run outside and around the block, and then shoot off into the sky to fly to school, because that's what you do when you're running late to school.
- I arrive in class just in time to get tipped off about something by the girl sitting next to me.
- The teacher hands the exam out, and it's 67 pages long. I only have an hour and a half, and for some stupid reason the multiple choice questions are on the first several pages but the spots to write your answers a bunch of pages later. There's a second identical test booklet for scratch work.
- A half hour of class has passed and I've only completed several pages on the second test booklet, planning to transfer my answers over to the primary one. I get informed by the teacher that if I don't have an answer for every question on the primary test booklet by the end of the exam, I will get a 0.
- I start coloring in random pictures into the answer spaces in the primary test booklet to make up for time.

This dream just feels like a rehash of all of the unprepared exam dreams I've had over the years. Why am I still so paranoid about school. -_-

2.
I'm watching the election coverage from a second floor classroom. Obama shocks the world by coming out and kissing Biden on the lips.

3.
At a dinner gathering.
Nate: Hey, do you want to hang out with me, Slam, and Finny?
Me: Who's Finny?
Nate: Phineas Gage. He's a bit before your time.

4. Too many things I don't remember, except:
- I somehow accidentally (or was it?) ditch my parents in Las Vegas for one night, and wind up having to figure out how to get back there from socal before midnight in spite of the fact that all available flights at the airport are either leaving in one minute or fully booked already.
- I get aid "from above" in the form of the mother of a old classmate who happens to work at the airport.
- I arrive at the hotel I left them in (...how did I leave in the first place?) and accidentally enter someone else's room. Although it looks empty until I notice the person is sleeping in a sleeping bag behind the bed.

Dream Post #44? or #46?

In parts from last night:

- I start work at a new job... at an arcade in the middle of what looks like some part of Sunnyvale? My boss is Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad (although I don't realize it until after I wake up - it's the voice), and he tells me that I'm pretty much free to slack off and play Pacman whenever I want to. For some reason the Pacman game in the arcade doesn't feel like normal Pacman, but I can't figure out why. I start feeling like I'm not getting enough work and end up leaving at some point.

- Walking past a fenced community (same city) on the other side of which I can see the roots and sewage, or roots of sewage? branch out from the community's ground into the exterior environment, resulting in a bunch of dead looking trees and walls outside. But the inside looks nice and pristine. I pass by a really nice looking playground and swing-set, although I'm paranoid that the adults on it are swinging too high - I've always had this paranoid fear of people swinging too high off a swing-set and falling off.

- Miki and Justin are back! and I see that Miki has brand new fancy red car parked next to mine.... with a really long wagon handle extending out from the top of the trunk. She demonstrates to me how she can push the car around the parking lot with the handle as if the car is a lawn mower or a vacuum cleaner, but I'm afraid she's going to cause a car accident at the speed she's going, because it's still a car.

Later on, Miki, Justin, Kyrie, and some other folks I don't remember sneak into Oprah's closet that looks more like a store, in the middle of a strip mall. My mom happens to be a security guard and walks in with me following her as I'm afraid they might get caught, but I notice that they've hidden themselves inside the backpacks and suitcases.

Later on I'm at home running after Kyrie in a game of tag (and what the freak Kyrie's running so fast I swear she's going to break something) and I hear from the television that Oprah has died from being poisoned, and I wonder if the sneak-in from earlier has anything to do with it. Except the name called out from the TV is Ochah Malfoy, but I recognize it as Oprah anyway.

- (dream after sleeping again after being woken up by alarm) - I'm in a new English class with Ryan and some IV folks that is in a room that looks oddly converted from the chapel at my elementary school. It's bring your own book to class first day and Ryan and I have novelizations of the recent Spiderman movie.

Erica is sitting in front of us, and she says, "Thanks guys, but I think Heart of Darkness is a little too below my reading level," as she pulls out that book plus a bunch of children's picture books from her backpack. Hearing her comment, the teacher snatches Heart of Darkness from Erica's desk leaving her with only the picture books.

And then I'm woken up by Wes knocking on the door.

Dream Post #43

- Freaking out at a sports shop after realizing that I left my backpack on an airplane, with no way of going back to retrieve it. And then finding out that they were only able to retrieve my laptop, which didn't relieve me all that much because then I started worrying about everything else that had been inside the backpack.

I had to wake up in the middle of the night to reassure myself that it was more likely impossible that I would ever walk off an airplane without remembering to take my backpack... which I always put at my feet when I'm on airplanes.

- I don't remember most of the second dream, but it ended with me inside a giant Super Shuttle, (whose interior resembled a cargo jet more now that I think about it) trying to stop it from riding a giant ocean wave and destroying everything in its path. I somehow managed to take out the pilots from afar using a weapon that wasn't really there - I think I inferred that I had a weapon because the pilots were dropping whenever I singled one of them out by sight? It felt more like I was having the view of one of those arcade shooter games.

Dream Post #42

For refusing to disguise myself as a member of the Blue Man Group, I am ordered (along with 20 other people) to decapitate myself using the blunt edge of an axe without a handle.

At the moment I attempt to... decapitate myself, I realize I don't have the will to force the axehead through my neck, and neither do any of the 20 other people lined up beside me, as all of them are just randomly shoving the blunt ends at their neck with no effect and sobbing.

In response, Andrew W. shows up in front of us and gives us a remedial lesson on how to put on a Blue Man Group disguise. ("Take note: FOOD COLORING.")

As I woke up I realized that I actually am afraid of dying. and have no idea why my dreams are so morbid sometimes. Sigh.

Dream Post #41

1. running through crowds and bleachers trying to avoid being kidnapped by Elan and Amir, who apparently are working for the federal government and in the process of kidnapping dozens of other people.

2. getting chastised by my mom for not serving a volleyball sincerely enough, on top of an air-inflated volleyball court that folds into ripples the size of 9 ft tidal waves.

Dream Post #40

1. IV is putting on a classical music concert at some fancy theater, during which For Christ's Sake a capella is center-stage performing a solemn yet annoyingly repetitive and catchy requiem, and I am sitting in the audience next to a clearly disgruntled male Korean atheist (I have no idea why it is that specific, but it is). I can't help but notice the anger emanating from the guy's face, and it bothers me so much that I'm caught off-guard when the spotlight suddenly falls on me, as it is my turn to narrate the next sequence of the God story. I can't remember my lines even though the script is sitting right in front of me, and no matter what I try to read from the script, it all comes out from my mouth as gibberish. I am lost, and I do not understand what I am trying to say. and then I wake up.

2. The Internet dies, which somehow triggers an I am Legend-ish sort of phenomenon where I am now the last human on earth in the midst of a post-apocalyptic landscape. After a month of wandering past dead computer and tv screens, one suddenly turns on, revealing that the source of the Internet's death was a bomb that exploded in a Costco in New York City, and that I am still able to get signal because Costco is still alive in Los Angeles. Just then that Costco explodes from another bomb, and the signal dies. and I wake up.

More thoughts.

- Had a number of dreams this week, but I can't remember any of them now save for the one a few days ago in which I saw a movie titled "Dreams and Guns." All I remember is waking up and thinking that it was a bizarre combination of Sailor Moon, Samuel L. Jackson, and Quentin Tarantino.

- I know I have a propensity for liking weird... things in general, but I have to say that Mawaru Penguindrum is probably the weirdest anime I have seen so far. At least, in the sense that I have no idea what is going on right now. The only thing I can predict about this series is the Survival Strategy sequence that plays every episode (similar to the repetitive stock footage you see in every episode of series like Sailor Moon/Digimon/Utena/etc.), but otherwise... gah I have no idea.

- When I look back over some of my old posts on this blog, it feels like a different person wrote them. As in, I have no idea what I was thinking or simply don't remember writing those posts.

- Google's cafeteria is amazing. Thanks Jade!

- It was a bit jarring the first day, but I'm starting to get used to living alone. It's kinda nice, I guess... I've never had this much free space in my life. (I've never had a private space or room to myself at home - I shared everything with brother).

I was asked before why I decided to live alone... well, I did kinda ask around a bit at first. But after a friend suggested considering living alone for once, I thought about it. And it started feeling like an attractive idea - not to mention that phase I went through a few months ago of getting sick of people.

I guess when it came down to it, I realized the thing I disliked the most about living with people was the constant possibility of inconveniencing or annoying them somehow- stereotypical, perhaps? This was in part influenced by seeing other friends getting annoyed at getting inconvenienced by the people they lived with. And I felt like if I were in the same circumstances I'd more likely be the annoying one since oftentimes I make the mistake of not fully considering how my actions affect other people. Particularly when it comes to living circumstances.

Another thing that influenced this was my own tendency to not take initiative in general apartment tasks like cooking, cleaning, etc. when I lived with other people. This was more due to my own inexperience - and I absolutely loathed getting complaints/comments from other people when I made basic mistakes because of inexperience or just not fully thinking through what I was doing, that I pretty much felt less inclined to do these things altogether. At least, not when other people were around.

I'm hoping that this year will be a time to force me to grow up for once, and rely less on others in taking initiative when it comes to my living circumstances. Ultimately, I'd like to become a better person to live with- although I realize that could easily go the other way around and make me prefer living just for myself. But in all honesty, in spite of the negative baggage it came with, I do miss living with people.

- It felt really weird being back at IV last night. I was reminded of that note I got at graduation- one that expressed regret over not getting to know each other better - which was how I felt in general on leaving back in May. I came in desiring good conversations and relationships with people, and left feeling lost in the rush of the flow, knowing a lot of people but not really "knowing" them well, and feeling disappointed considering how much time I'd invested in this community and how this probably would stay the same after college. Over the course of the night, all of those feelings came back... and of course, the usual post-large group rush never really helps- I barely had time to talk to most of the people I did see. But it was good to see them.

- Berkeley, I missed you. Although as far as driving around and trying to find parking goes, I hate you. I spent an hour trying to find a parking spot last night, and while driving down Shattuck a random passing driver called me an asshole. -___-

Dream Post #38

Child (male? female?) born to nazi parents who commit suicide shortly after. I take the POV of this person and procede alone into the start of the sequence - like a line to an attraction at a theme park, except the attraction is sorted into different stages. Note to self after having experienced this dream, pay attention to what happens to my backpack and two jackets. (I don't actually remember where they were at most points during this...)

First stage: I transform into Cloud Strife tactically attacking enemies from afar in a setting that resembles a turn based strategy game.

[in a hotel room, foreshadowing.]

Next line: I am pushed along, into the sewers, slums of some district chasing after something (magic? a pixie?) I can't catch. Motorcycles?

Next stage: Moving forward, I'm in an outdoor mall. I'm carrying a bomb into the target location. activate it. walk slowly away (feels like a combination of the opening sequence to the movie Touch of Evil and the sequence where Joker walks away from the hospital in The Dark Knight). Nearing exit, hear the explosion, feel the heat from behind - turn, see fire erupting from inside, smoke spreading and engulfing everyone flowing towards my direction, arm feels the burn from the heat, people around trying to run. I run. (This part actually happened twice - there were two bombs - but I don't remember the sequence between the planting of both bombs)

As I run forward, thousands of people compressed into streams flow past me towards the site of the explosion. However there are too many(50+ streams at once) and the streams crash into each other like trains. People get run over by people-trains, blood splattering on the ground, massive chaos all around.

I run as fast as I can past them, finally trapped in a crowd with people I know from high school + Johny?? in a corner. It almost feels like I'm stuck in a massive line/crowd at Disneyland. Oh wait, this is Disneyland. and this is a line waiting to exit, since the mall just got bombed and a ton of people just died. I can see the Sleeping Beauty castle plus another huge crowd of trapped people just over the wall next to me. Johny seems amused at the equally trapped people. Discussion with high school friends over how life's going. I thought you were supposed to be in Europe. [oh, I'm on vacation right now]

Oh look, there's a part of the crowd branching off into this field that reminds me of the field where we were waiting in line at general commencement. We're getting permission to leave from these black suited guards, one by one. High school friend realizes something, tries to explain but can't in front of guards and has to run around the corner behind a wall, others follow. I try to but am pulled back by guard, pushed away into the line exiting the campus.

Line moves toward the end, I wonder what happened to the others. They zoom by me at that moment, having transformed into fish or sea monkeys. I don't remember which. Alternate ending for this dream starts here, in which I also transform into a sea monkey and become enraptured by a giant shroom.

No wait. My conscious self isn't satisfied by this ending, so I forcefully rewind time in the dream (like rewinding a tape) and come back to the point before fish friends fly by.

Line moves forward, I see a huge line progressing in the opposite direction back into the park. I wonder why you would try to go back into the park when there is so much chaos there right now, at the site where the bomb went off/streams of people collided. I get pushed out. At this point I realize I left my two jackets back somewhere in the line when I was still with high school friends. I took them off because it was getting too hot. Oh well.

As I exit, I realize backpack was left behind, I go back to the entrance and one of the guards hands it back to me. I ask him how he knew it was my backpack (it was actually dad's billabong backpack). He saw me drop it apparently.

I look back at the entrance line, which goes through a shack at some point. In front of the shack is a distressed woman, face with burns, apparently tortured while working as a servant for the family running the park. She gets pulled back into the shack by security, screaming.

I exit the park via the exit line... and then wake up? I don't remember what else there was after that. I feel like the hotel room from early on came back again. The culprit was there. Watching the news covering what happened today.

After I wake up I close my eyes and rewind time back through the dream, to the beginning. I am still bothered by the gruesomeness of the deaths back during the people-stream-train sequence.

Dream Post #37

Figured these were happening often enough that I may as well start numbering them. Some of the posts tagged under "Dreams" aren't actually dream posts persay, but they all reference a dream I've had at some point.

I had three dreams last night (and woke up three times... I haven't slept through a night without waking up in the middle since pre-Indonesia), but can only remember two.

1. I am taking a test in which I have to describe in in-class essay format the difference between Java and C++... using the analogy of the difference between filling and emptying a pool of water. Yes, that was part of the question.

It took me so long to think of an answer to this that I ran out of time, as typically happens for me with in-class essays, and I woke up in a panic. And then I laid in bed seriously thinking about the question for while before deciding that whoever came up with the idea of trying to compare Java and C++ using a pool of water as an analogy was an idiot. (My mind was probably still in half-asleep delirious mode- refer to previous post where I was awake and panicked about having 40,000 shopping carts) And then I went back to sleep.

2. I am escorting the Joker from Batman down several flights of stairs in Arkham Asylum to his prison cell. This is pretty much a recreation of the opening to the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, except that

- I am myself and not Batman
- I am unarmed
- there are no police officers with me escorting the Joker
- the Joker himself isn't even handcuffed, which makes me wonder why he's even bothering with this charade in the first place.
- he's playing with a spoon in his hands as he is walking, and I spend most of the walk downstairs paranoid that he might stab me in the eye with it since I am defenseless.
- but somehow we manage to have a pretty cordial conversation anyway. no hard feelings.

Luckily, once we make it to the bottom floor the Joker gets ambushed by a crowd of teenage girls asking for his autograph. and I wake up.

Because I can't sleep

a couple of dreams.

- Johny gchatting me "sc2" x 10000000 times. Why did this make it into my dreams. -_-

- I am a messenger in a war between humans and mythological woodland creatures such as centaurs and satyrs taking place in the streets of Berkeley. I am in the middle of chasing after a female centaur up Euclid on northside when I am suddenly captured by an entourage of witches, who exclaim "This is why you don't trust witches!" and proceed to tickle me awake.

- I am searching for some missing people with a search party through the streets of some city. At some point I run into Josh W. from elementary school and his mom, who follow me for a bit while talking to me about random Christian stuff. Later I discover the missing people on one side of a mud slide/hill, only to find that James, Olivia and another person from the search party have been trapped inside a video file underneath the other side of the mud hill. (yeah I know this makes no sense)

Later I come to a house, switching points of view between myself, a dog, a black pregnant lady and her two followers, and a rainbow Chinese dragon-cat-monster-puppet hybrid that turns black and white when it falls asleep. While the hybrid is sleeping on a couch-chair, a random man hiding inside the pantry pokes it awake, and it decides to take revenge on me by taking a dump on my back. and I wake up.

Being back home still feels like a dream. It's so much cleaner here than in Indonesia...

Dream Update

Recent dreams.

EDIT:
0. From last night:
So earlier in this dream, I'm at some carnival? or something like that and get involved in a game where I'm in a circle of people and there's a ball. The person with the ball has to stare at someone and throw the ball to someone they aren't staring at at the same time.

Fast forward through some parts I don't remember, and now I'm going to my high school to play tennis, driving straight from the parking lot to the tennis courts (...which isn't actually possible at my high school). I arrive there to find that it is the first day of tryouts for both guys and girls teams this year, and 3/4 of the kids there are half my size. I get the idea to pretend I'm a student so I can practice playing anyway.

So before tryouts start, the head coach - who happens to be headless for some reason - decides to put everyone through a variant of the above game called "Choose Your Empathy" (somehow the person you choose to throw at without staring is related to your empathy?). A floating cartoonish smiling sun suddenly manifests as the head of the headless coach, and instead of a ball, he starts launching broccoli at us using sun-head as a catapult. And then I wake up.

1. The night before Relay For Life back at Berkeley:
I discover that Yvonne Fung and David Yang share a "dark" history of having participated in a nude art exhibition 4 years ago. This includes a reinterpretation of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling painting (God creating Adam) as well as a human chandelier (as opposed to a human pyramid).

So yeah, this dream is up there in the category "woke me up with a heart attack" with Justin punching me in the stomach, me driving off a cliff, and Ryan L saying he slept with two girls last night.

2. Last week:
I discover that Harrison is an undercover closet secret agent (as in, he emerges... from closets?) dealing with missions in Europe. Don't remember much else.

3. Earlier this week:
I am introduced to the fictional red haired younger sister of Jenn Ross, and for some reason I cannot stop laughing even before she introduces herself. We are both sorted into Gryffindor House at Hogwarts and have to work on a group Spanish project with some other people. Insert a meal at Hogwarts (I've kinda always wanted to experience a meal at Hogwarts...)

4. Last last night:
A malevolent spirit that apparently has been trying to kill me for a while possesses Nick. In the middle of a conversation at 6 in the morning in our room at Hilgard, I manage to point out things that possessed Nick doesn't know that Nick should know (hence proving that Nick is being possessed), and we end up having a heated fight that results in me pointing a revolver at him and him trying to wrest it out of my hands by pinching my cheeks. Kim appears out of the room next door and breaks up the fight by slapping possessed Nick. and I wake up.

Dreams I recently rediscovered in my journal from sophomore year:

1. I enter Andy Lee's dorm room to discover that he is playing Neopets. I ask him how many NP he has and he yells at me to GET OUT.

2. Charlie Brown is depressed because it's Christmas and Linus appears to have forgotten him. However, he makes 26 dollars by investing in Lucy's lending service and has a square dance party when he gets home. Linus finds out that Charlie Brown has abandoned him and tries to invest in a lookalike's lending service. The evil girl charges him 92 dollars.
*insert SCARY EVIL FACE of the lookalike lending girl*

3. I arrive at a mansion at the End of the World... or rather, a floating island at the end of the universe. Kirby 64 universe music is playing in the background.

4. My future self in a red Power Rangers costume kidnaps me and jumps from a multistory building. Random flash of other characters materializing, such as Legolas. (I don't remember ever having this dream...)

5. (at our apartment in Hilgard): Nick confronts the annoying lady who lives next door. He disappears, the front door left open, and an overbearing lady enters and yells at me, Kate, and Nathan.

6. Hilfinger (one of my CS professors) lives in the apartment across from us and drops by to ask how we are doing with our projects. My apartment + Martin, Danielle, and Olivia play hide and seek outside. Danielle and Martin can phase through walls, and Olivia catches me because I'm glued to a rolling chair and trying to program and hide at the same time.

7. Jade comes out of the closet as a year-ahead-of-us student/secret agent who delivers pizzas on the side.

8. My dad forces me to order starfish for dinner. I refused to eat the half-dissected starfish on my plate, but having taken Bio 1AL, I am able to label the internal organs aloud. Its gonads are flesh colored, so it is a male. and then I find myself playing Diddy Kong Racing, except the vehicles are penguins. and I lose.

9. Following a trail of luggage through the sewers, I run into a man who accuses me of not being Pikachu and attempts to slice my neck off with a file.

10. I have a dream about Johny having a dream. As to what that dream entails, I have no idea.

Dream

Last night I dreamt I went on a beach trip with my old elementary school, and on the way back somehow lost my goggles, rice cooker, and my ninja turtle costume. I was so upset that I made all the chaperones' lives miserable trying to find it, going as far as to search every car and every room I'd been in that day. Unfortunately, we couldn't search the first two cars cause they'd been loaned to us by pizza delivery companies and were out delivering pizzas when I discovered I'd lost my things. And then I woke up.

I'm trying not to get so upset when I lose things nowadays, but man, I was bawling in the dream the moment I found out I couldn't find my lost things. Particularly cause that ninja turtle costume was so big, and I had no idea how I could've lost it. In the long run I wasn't so upset about the things I lost, but rather the fact that I lost them... and how could I have lost them?

One of those deep psychological dreams I guess. In contrast to last night's twice repeating 9 people stuck in a cabin in the middle of a zombie apocalypse dream featuring me with invisible powers, a psycho chainsaw murderer, Glenda, Emily, future and past Jess Lau, John Locke and Pierre Chang from Lost, Sylar from Heroes, and clairvoyant chickens. -_-

Last night I had a dream about marriage.

I think I'll stop there.
